IPtronics Offers low cost Silicon for Parallel Optics

IPtronics adds solutions for the growing Low Cost and HDMI market in Asia

Menlo Park, CA June 2010

With an established leadership in silicon for 4x10Gbps and 12x10Gbps applications, IPtronics announces the availability of a lower speed version of its power performance leading 4 channel VCSEL drivers and TIAs for parallel optics.

As a response to the growing market for lower rates, especially driven by HDMI cables and a growing local market in Asia, China in particular, IPtronics is pleased to launch our 4 channel IPxx5G011 chip sets targeted at lower speeds, higher volumes and a substantially lower cost structure than current active optical cables for Infiniband QDR and beyond.

Furthermore, by cooperating with leading merchant VCSEL and PIN suppliers, IPtronics is in a unique position to offer an unmatched cost level to non-vertically integrated module and cable suppliers

With the new Asia/China specific strategy IPtronics address the specific market with low cost solutions, reference designs and a total solution offering combined with strong local support.

IPtronics already offer solutions addressing Infiniband DDR, QDR, FDR and even 16Gbps per channel and beyond.

Building on existing technologies which are in mass production today, IPtronics now offers a low risk path to more through-put. The lower speed integrated circuits from IPtronics have identical footprints to our current 4 channel and 12 channel offering, which operates at channel speeds of from 10 Gbps to 16 Gbps

"By leveraging economies of scale and addressing Asia specific requirements, mainly cost and strong application support, IPtronics expects to capture a substantial share of the lower speed market", says Jesper Bek, CEO IPtronics Inc. "Furthermore, our lower speed components are compatible to our higher speed solutions for an easy transition once higher channel speeds become a requirement".

The devices come in two versions, wirebond and solder ball. IPtronics bases its solder bump solutions on an established flow with our supplier, ST Microelectronics. This flow is easily scalable to very high volumes and offers better signal integrity than a traditional wirebond process. All the solutions offered by IPtronics are lead-free and ROHS compliant.
